What we are: The Coconut Grove Spotlight is a local, nonprofit news organization delivering free, fair and reliable news coverage and in-depth reporting focused on the village of Coconut Grove, Miami City Hall, and surrounding communities.
Who we are: The Spotlight is owned and operated by Miami News Trust, an initiative of local journalists and civic leaders committed to addressing the crisis of local news reporting that plagues our country. Miami News Trust is registering as a 501(c)(3) organization.
Who funds us: You do. As a 501(c)(3) nonprofit news site (application pending), we rely on a variety of funding sources to sustain our operations including individual donations, foundation grants, corporate support, advertising and sponsorships.
Why we matter: Democracy requires a free press and an informed, engaged citizenry. Free, fair and unbiased news coverage empowers our residents to vote, to demand action, and to hold public officials and institutions accountable to those they serve.
Our Mission: The Coconut Grove Spotlight is an independent, nonprofit news organization producing and delivering fair, factual news content and information that will inform, engage, and empower its audience members to participate in the public life of their community.
