New campaign

Dear Friends,

This week, The Coconut Grove Spotlight celebrates an exciting milestone: the publication of the 100th edition of our newsletter.

In these 100 editions, we’ve delivered the hyper-local, deeply reported news stories that larger outlets overlook. We’ve celebrated our community’s triumphs, shared its challenges, and shined a light where accountability was needed most.

We’re proud of all the stories we’ve published but some, more than others, illustrate the power of independent local journalism.

We’ve investigated threats to the Grove’s tree canopy, exposed special interests influencing City Commission zoning decisions, documented the displacement of longtime residents, and examined the threats to Coconut Grove’s marine ecosystem – just to name a few. These hard-hitting pieces aren’t always easy, but they are essential.

Now, as we look ahead to the next 100 issues, and beyond, the Spotlight needs your help.

As a tax-deductible 501(c)3 nonprofit, the Spotlight runs on a shoestring budget, powered by passion and supported by readers like you. Your donation helps fund deeper investigations, expand our coverage, and ensure the Grove’s stories continue to be told – with heart, with rigor, and with integrity.

Please consider making a contribution today. Every dollar helps shine a brighter “Spotlight” on the issues that matter most.

Thank you for believing in local journalism. Here’s to the next 100!

With gratitude,

David Villano & Don Finefrock
