Coconut Grove is gaining a new reporter next month, and the Spotlight is delighted to introduce her to our readers.
Anita will join the Spotlight newsroom in July as a full-time reporter — one of two Report for America corps members who will join us this summer. Anita will report on government accountability — a meaningful addition to the Spotlight’s growing local news team
Anita’s work will cover the public decisions shaping life in Coconut Grove, from local government and public safety to neighborhood change, quality of life, transportation, development, and the everyday issues neighbors raise long before they become official agenda items.
She brings a strong reporting background to the job. Anita previously covered education in Virginia through Report for America, earned recognition from the Virginia Press Association, and has worked with Minnesota Public Radio, FOX 5 DC, and WLRN here in Miami. She is a Northwestern University graduate and speaks Mandarin and Spanish. She shared a photo from her time at WLRN.
Readers will get to know Anita best through her work, and Anita will get to know Coconut Grove best through our readers.
