The Miami chef behind the popular Eating House and Luca Osteria restaurants in Coral Gables is taking on a new assignment in Coconut Grove as the lead chef at Mayfair Grill, the signature restaurant at Mayfair House Hotel & Garden. The restaurant will open for daily dinner and happy hour under chef Giorgio Rapicavoli’s direction in early August (target date Friday August 9), with lunch and weekend brunch to follow in October. The collaboration marks Rapicavoli’s return to Coconut Grove. In 2015, the chef partnered with Grove Bay Hospitality Group to open Glass & Vine in Peacock Park. The Mayfair Grill, with its signature access to the hotel’s lush interior courtyard, represents another landmark location for the Miami-born chef. The new menu will showcase the restaurant’s open-flame grill and dishes to share. “Our approach is driven by quality ingredients,” Rapicavoli said in a statement. “We’re not hiding behind complex techniques or excessive garnishes. Instead, we’re letting premium dishes and the mastery of fire to speak for themselves.” The Mayfair House hotel at 3000 Florida Avenue reopened in September 2022 after a $50 million renovation. “Chef Rapicavoli’s culinary artistry aligns perfectly with our vision,” hotel general manager Rhys O’Connell said. “We’re confident Mayfair Grill will become a true gastronomic destination in Coconut Grove under his leadership.” The hotel features two dining spots – the ground floor Mayfair Grill, previously operated by Lost Boy & Company, and the rooftop pool and bar Sipsip.
