To the Editor:
A sincere thank you to the residents of Park Grove and the South Bayshore Alliance who showed up en masse at Wednesday night’s Planning, Zoning and Appeals Board meeting at City Hall.
Your presence made the difference, and it wasn’t just symbolic.
You helped to change the outcome.
Not only was the Board listening, they were echoing our concerns. Our statements reminded them that their actions impact not only our quality of life, but theirs as well.
District 2 initially sought to exclude and protect the NCDs from Developer density transfers, but we achieved something even more impressive. The Board excluded historic districts, and then went even further. They also granted protections for neighbors in single-family homes through a 500-foot buffer.
Hopefully, our Commissioners will heed the advice of their own Planning and Zoning Board. We’ll see when the ordinance returns to the City Commission for a final vote.
Wednesday night proved something important: numbers do matter, and participation changes outcomes. Let’s keep this momentum going!
