Miami commissioners have formally accepted up to $300,000 from the Coconut Grove Business Improvement District (BID) to help fund Circuit, the on-demand rideshare service that launched in the Grove in May.
Commissioners unanimously approved a resolution Thursday authorizing City Manager James Reyes to accept the money and work with the BID to determine routes within the district.
The BID board originally approved the $300,000 allocation in December 2024. BID Executive Director Mark Burns said the money is part of the organization’s original funding commitment to Circuit, rather than a new allocation for the service.
Circuit provides point-to-point rides throughout Coconut Grove, including connections to the Douglas Road, Coconut Grove and Vizcaya Metrorail stations. In its first two months, Circuit carried 5,755 passengers on more than 3,860 rides.
The service remains free to riders, despite earlier plans to begin charging many passengers $2 per trip in August.
