The Coconut Grove Spotlight accepts political advertising from candidates, campaigns, political action committees, and advocacy organizations whose messages align with our mission of promoting civic engagement and informed, respectful public discourse. We maintain a strict separation between editorial decisions and any paid advertising. Acceptance of a political advertisement does not imply endorsement by the Spotlight or its staff.
Standards for Political Advertising
- Civic and Positive Messaging — Ads must promote civic participation and constructive dialogue. Content that is negative, misleading, or demeaning toward individuals or groups will not be accepted.
- Labeling & Disclosure — All political ads will be clearly labeled “Paid political advertisement — Paid for by [Name]” (either within the creative or as a clearly visible caption adjacent to the ad).
- Right of Refusal — The Coconut Grove Spotlight reserves the right to decline or remove any political or issue-based advertisement that does not meet these standards or that conflicts with our mission and values.
