The World Cup watch party in Coconut Grove on Saturday drew hundreds of soccer fans to Peacock Park for the Group C match between Brazil and Morocco.
Hundreds of soccer fans filled Peacock Park on Saturday for the Grove Cup, a waterfront watch party organized by the Coconut Grove Business Improvement District (BID) as part of the neighborhood’s World Cup programming.
Fans came to watch Brazil’s opening Group C match against Morocco, but the event offered more than soccer. Families took part in the Grove Soccer Experience, local Taste of the Grove vendors served food, and a halftime performance featuring entertainers dressed as famous players kept the energy up between halves.
Brazil supporters packed the waterfront park, creating a sea of yellow jerseys and turning Peacock Park into an unofficial home crowd for the five-time World Cup champions. Brazil and Morocco played to a 1-1 draw, each earning a point in the opening match of Group C.
